Composer's Music Analysis Resource

As a composer, I need to dig into a piece's details very deeply so I understand the means used by the author. That is how we collect our own tools to express musical thoughts. In order to find the patterns in a piece, I need to conduct music analysis.


At the beginning, the process can seem very difficult - looking for small details can seem very boring and, sometimes, overwhelming. But as I treat music as a science which derives from mathematics, I always look for patterns that a composer either followed or created.


One of the most complex forms to analyse is a sonata. Despite having a very regular structure, it allows a composer to express their musical thoughts in many ways. Together with WKMT members, we created a rich resource for composers as a reference when analysing a piece. I highly recommend everyone to explore it:
